What your network looks like

Authorised specialist dealers with listening rooms, custom install companies that design systems in homes and have no shop front, and a handful of national retailers, alongside grey-market sellers you have never appointed.

Why a generic map falls short

In specialist audio the map is the warranty. Appearing on the brand's own locator is what tells a buyer this dealer is appointed, so an unfiltered pin list quietly lends your name to sellers you never authorised.

What visitors need to do

  • Publish authorised dealers only, so a grey-market seller with no warranty behind it never appears on your own map
  • Say which models are set up for demonstration, because a dealer who stocks the brand is not the same as a dealer with that pair wired up
  • Show which dealers need an appointment for a listening session rather than walk-in browsing
  • Cover custom install companies by the area they work in, since they have a van and a workshop rather than a shop to visit

How Handled covers it

  • Filterable tags per location for authorised dealer, demo room, and the ranges on demonstration
  • Service areas with a radius for custom install partners who work across a region rather than from a shop
  • Featured ordering for flagship and reference dealers
  • Custom fields for booking a listening appointment and for the models currently set up

Not every audio brands business is the same

Specialist hi-fi dealers

A shop with treated rooms and an appointment book, where the question is never whether they stock the brand but whether that pair is wired up and can be heard on Saturday. Dealers rotate what is on demonstration, and a buyer who drives an hour to find the reference model still boxed in the stockroom does not come back.

Custom install and integration companies

No shop front, a workshop and a van, working across a region on projects that begin with a builder rather than a browser. They are on the map for people planning a whole house system, and the only honest things to publish about them are the area they cover and how to start the conversation.

National retailers with a few stocking branches

A chain agreement rarely means every branch. Twenty out of three hundred carry the range, often one model of it, and the branch list arrives from head office as a file. Publishing the chain instead of the branches is how a customer ends up in a store where nobody has heard of the brand.

Approved service and repair

An owner with a fifteen year old amplifier is not a buyer, and sending them to a dealer who only sells new wastes everybody's afternoon. Repair centres, dealers who send work away and dealers with a bench in the back are three different answers, and giving them a filter takes real load off your support inbox.

Setting it up

  1. 1. Reconcile the list against the agreements

The point of this map is that being on it means appointed. Check the list against current dealer agreements, drop the lapsed ones, and decide in advance what you say about sellers who list the brand without an appointment, because customers will ask.

  2. 2. Import, then tag by what can be heard

Bring the dealers in and tag each with the ranges held and the models actually set up for demonstration. Stocking and demonstrating are two different claims, and buyers in this category know the difference.

  3. 3. Give install partners a service area

Custom install companies get a radius around their base instead of a shop pin, so somebody searching from a village finds the integrator who covers it rather than the nearest retail address forty minutes away.

  4. 4. Add booking routes, feature the flagships and publish

Listening sessions are booked, not walked into. Put each dealer's booking link or direct number in a custom field, feature the reference dealers, then embed the locator on your dealers page.

What to prepare before you publish

You do not need a perfect data system to start. A clean first list is enough to test the visitor journey, then you can keep it current from the workflow that suits your team.

  • Location name and address
  • Phone, website or booking link
  • Categories, products or services
  • Opening hours and special hours
  • A map provider key
  • The page where the locator will be embedded

Questions we get asked

How much does an authorised dealer locator cost for a hi-fi brand?

Plans open at $19 a month and start with a 7 day free trial that asks for no card. There is no free plan when it ends. You connect your own Mapbox or Google Maps key, so map usage is billed to you at provider rates rather than resold by us.

Can I make sure only authorised dealers appear and grey-market sellers do not?

The map shows exactly the list you upload and nothing else. Nothing is pulled in from a third party directory, so an unappointed seller can only appear if it is in your file. Reconciling the list against live dealer agreements before import is the whole control.

How do I show which speakers are actually set up for demonstration?

Stocking and demonstrating are two different tags on the same dealer. Tag the ranges held and, separately, the models currently wired up, so a buyer driving an hour knows the reference pair can be heard rather than hoping it is out of its box.

Can I list custom install companies that cover a region and have no shop front?

Yes. Give them a service area with a radius around their base instead of a shop pin, so a search from a village finds the integrator who covers it. Service areas are radius based, so an irregular shape has to be approximated with the radius or split across bases. Where the point is which integrator owns an address rather than how far one travels, that is a postcode territory instead, which takes the exact list from the agreement.

Can a buyer book a listening session from my dealer locator?

Not as a booking: the widget holds no diary and no availability, so it cannot take a slot. It can take an enquiry, if you switch that form on, and route it to the dealer whose territory covers the address, which is how a request for a session reaches the right room. For an actual booking, put each dealer's booking link or direct number in a custom field and the visitor goes to the dealer's own diary, which is where the appointment has to land anyway.

How do I separate approved service and repair from dealers who only sell new?

Give repair its own tag and filter. A centre with a watchmaker's equivalent on site, a dealer who sends work away and a dealer who does neither are three answers, and letting an owner with an old amplifier filter to the right one takes real load off support.

If you need something that is not here

Handled is small enough to build to order. If your trade needs a field, a filter or a behaviour the locator does not have yet, say so and we will tell you honestly whether it is a week away or not something we will do.
