Why the data is the part that goes wrong

Publishing a locator is rarely blocked by the embed. It is blocked by the spreadsheet. Store lists are usually assembled by several people over several years, exported from a till system or a CRM that was never asked to hold addresses, and merged by hand the week someone decides the website needs a map.

What makes those problems expensive is that almost none of them look like failures. A row with no name imports. A swapped latitude and longitude imports. A location listed twice imports twice. The map loads, the page looks finished, and the fault surfaces when somebody drives to the wrong address.

So both tools here run before you publish rather than after. The CSV validator checks the file in your browser, without uploading it, which matters when the list is a stockist roster you do not own. The readiness checklist covers the page itself: whether search behaves the way people actually type, whether opening hours and directions are present, and what a visitor needs to know before setting off. The map cost calculator covers what comes after: what Google Maps or Mapbox will actually bill once the locator is live. If you want to see what the finished result looks like for a specific trade, the restaurant locator guide and the dealer locator guide and the stockist locator guide each walk through one, and the examples are all running the real widget.
