Who wrote this, and how it was checked
Handled wrote this page and Handled Locator is one of the plugins in it. Every figure about the other plugins was read on 25 September 2026 from the WordPress.org plugin directory and each vendor's own pricing page, linked at the end. Plugins change prices and features often, so check the current page before buying.
The plugins side by side
Installs and ratings are WordPress.org's own figures. Prices are the vendors' published prices for their paid versions.

WP Store Locator: the strongest free choice
The free plugin covers what most sites need: search with a radius, category filters, and a map that can run on OpenStreetMap with no Google key at all, or on Mapbox, Stadia or Google. Locations are stored as a custom post type, so they live in your WordPress database and can be edited like posts.
Paid add-ons cover the rest, such as CSV import through its CSV Manager add-on, statistics and a search widget. The all-add-ons bundle is a one-time payment with lifetime updates and a year of support, which is unusual and good value.
Agile Store Locator: best for WooCommerce stores
Agile's free version is capable, and its Pro version adds CSV import and search radius. Its distinctive feature is a paid Multi-Store add-on for WooCommerce that handles local pickup, store selection at checkout and per-store inventory, which no other plugin here does. If your store locator needs to connect to what a WooCommerce customer can buy and collect, start here.
Agile's own site advertises higher usage and review figures than its WordPress.org listing shows. The table uses the WordPress.org figures so every plugin is measured the same way.
WP Go Maps: a map plugin that can be a locator
WP Go Maps is one of the most installed map plugins on WordPress, and its store locator is one feature among many. It can run on Leaflet and OpenStreetMap without a Google key. Directions and category filters are in the Pro version. Choose it if you need general maps across the site and a simple locator is one of them.
Store Locator Plus: no longer on WordPress.org
WordPress.org closed the Store Locator Plus listing on 10 July 2024 for a security issue, so it cannot be installed from the directory. The vendor still sells self-hosted add-ons and a hosted service from its own site. If you run it today, check with the vendor whether the issue has been resolved in the version you have.
Handled Locator: a hosted locator with a WordPress plugin
Handled's plugin adds a block and a shortcode that display a locator hosted by Handled. Locations are managed in the Handled dashboard, imported from a spreadsheet or synced from a Google Sheet, and the map runs on your own Mapbox or Google key, billed to you directly by the provider.
That design is the trade-off. It suits teams whose locations are managed outside WordPress, who run more than one site, or who want to update the locator from a spreadsheet or an AI assistant. It does not suit anyone who needs every location stored in the WordPress database, or who wants a free plan forever: after the 7-day trial it is a paid subscription. It is also new to the directory, so it has no install history or ratings there yet.
How to choose
Match the plugin to where your locations should live and what the locator has to connect to.
- Free, and locations in your WordPress database: WP Store Locator.
- WooCommerce pickup, store selection or per-store stock: Agile Store Locator with its Multi-Store add-on.
- General maps across the site, with a simple locator among them: WP Go Maps.
- Locations managed outside WordPress, several sites, or spreadsheet and assistant updates: Handled Locator.

For most sites, WP Store Locator. Its free version includes radius search and category filters and can run on OpenStreetMap without a Google key, and its paid add-ons are one-time purchases.
Do WordPress store locator plugins need a Google Maps API key?
Not any more, for most of them. WP Store Locator, Agile Store Locator and WP Go Maps can all run on OpenStreetMap without a key. Google or Mapbox maps need a key from that provider.
Which store locator works with WooCommerce?
