Plugin or hosted embed?
A WordPress plugin is convenient when you want a block or shortcode inside the editor. A hosted embed is useful when the location data and design are managed outside WordPress. Both can work well when the page stays fast and the location list is easy to update.
A reliable setup sequence
Use this order so you test the data and visitor journey before styling details.
- Install the official plugin or choose a Custom HTML block for an embed
- Import and review your locations before placing the widget on the public page
- Configure search, filters, opening hours, actions and mobile layout
- Add the locator to a dedicated page and link it from the site navigation
- Test as a logged-out visitor on desktop and mobile
- Check that phone, website and directions actions open correctly

Keep the page useful after launch
The first publish is not the finish line. Assign one person to review opening hours and location changes, and keep a stable identifier for each row if you update from a spreadsheet. Review analytics for searches with no result and add the missing data when there is a real demand signal.
