Choose a map style
Open Configure → Map and choose Mapbox or Google Maps. Both providers support the built-in Streets, Light, Dark and Satellite directions. The provider, base map and marker treatment can change without replacing the embed code or reimporting locations.
Start with a built-in style while establishing the locator layout. A custom map is useful when the base map itself is part of the brand system, not merely when a button color needs changing.
Use your own custom map
Handled can load a map design managed in your own provider account.
- Mapbox: publish the design in Mapbox Studio, copy its Style URL, then paste the
mapbox://styles/...value into Mapbox style. The style must be readable by the public token connected to the locator. - Google Maps: create and publish a cloud-based map style, associate it with a Map ID, then paste that ID into Google map ID. When a Map ID is present, it controls the base map instead of Handled's built-in theme choice.
Leave the custom field empty to return to the selected built-in theme. A custom style does not change Handled's cards, search controls, popups or location data.
Choose markers and artwork
Use a classic pin, compact dot, account logo inside a pin, or uploaded artwork drawn without a pin around it. Marker colors can follow the first category, the locator accent, or a color assigned to one location.
Uploaded artwork accepts transparent PNG, WebP or safe SVG files up to 50 KB. Choose the rendered width from 16 to 96 pixels, then set the anchor:
- Bottom edge suits a pin or illustration that points to the coordinate.
- Centre suits a badge, symbol or logo centered on the coordinate.
Artwork is fitted without stretching. Category and accent colors do not recolor an uploaded image, so prepare the final colors in the file itself.
Configure clusters
Enable clusters when many markers overlap at the current zoom. The numbered bubble separates into individual markers as the visitor moves closer. Choose a circle, rounded square or square so clusters follow the shape language used by cards and buttons.
Marker numbers connect the map to the result order. Scroll to result highlights and reveals the matching card after a marker click. Marker position controls whether the map moves to leave room for the popup.
Verify the result
- 1
Test a dense area
Confirm clusters are readable and split into the correct individual locations. - 2
Open a marker
Check the popup, selected result and map repositioning together. - 3
Inspect mobile
Make sure large artwork does not cover nearby markers and that the map remains easy to pan. - 4
Open the installed page
Verify the custom style and browser key on the exact public domain where visitors will use them.
